Official Launch Party
To celebrate the growth and great feedback we have received, we invite new and past guest to join us for the official launch TALKSHOPS.
This time round, the nights format has been slightly altered as we have welcome local Melbourne artists Creature: Creature & Ruskidd. Who will be creating pieces of work while our guest musicians, Silent Jay & Jace XL and Billy Davis grace our stage performing 1-2 pieces of work for our listening pleasure.
Following the music performances we will have a Q&A with the musicians and artists touching upon their craft and how they are continuing to grow.
Carrying over 15+ years of experience, the artist duo consisting of Chanel Tang and Ambrose Rehorek CreatureCreature are one of a kind. Both with a background in fine art and graphic design, their work is a blend of both these practices with strong historical influences, mixed with a love of street art and illustration. Their synergy can be seen in the art they create together and it's such a great sight!
The two have worked with many clients producing art for City of Stonnington, City of Maribyrnong, City of Yarra, City of Hurstville, Wyndham City Council, John Holland construction company, Melbourne Water, AS Colour and Cotton On.
Melbourne based artist Ruskidd has become an influential figure in the art community of Australia. Under the name of Ruskidd, he has developed a unique and diverse style for street art murals and smaller scale paintings.
His work engages the viewer with vibrant uplifting colours, free flowing organic lines and recurring motifs. Exploring the interplay between nature’s shapes and patterns, gives a dynamic movement to each artwork. Live painting at various venues, commissions and collaborations with other artists drives him to push the boundaries and create works that adapt to any scale and environment.
Silent Jay & Jace XL
Melbourne-based multi-instrumentalist Silentjay – the project of Alejandro Jay Abapo – captures with his unique production, soulfully understated voice and phone book of friends and collaborators that he creates the perfect foil for.
Silentjay’s productions soon pricked the ears around the world – first at home as the backing vocalist for Hiatus Kayiote, encouragement from Los Angeles’ Brainfeeder label-head Flying Lotus, who Jay has supported twice on national tours of Australia, to London’s Rhythm Section director Bradley Zero, who invited him and his frequent collaborator Jace XL to release their debut EP ‘Sacrifice’ through his label.
Jay’s beat tape includes just as many slam dunks, gravity defying moves and is likewise set to showcase a young artist just about to burst into the next stage of his career.
Relatively new to the music circuit, Billy Davis has very much made his presence known with his ecentric shows and harmonious vibes. Melbourne-based keyboardist, pianist & composer blending the fundamental sounds of gospel, R&B, piano and Rhodes in tandem with modern day synths and beats.
His great work features many local musicians including Allysha Joy, Silent Jay, Jace Excell, Amin Payne, Cazeaux O.S.L.O, Pataphysics and more.
